Traverse City Michigan is chockfull of wineries, around 40 of them in fact! And since this beautiful city is located on the 45th Parallel (the same as some of the most prestigious wine regions of Europe like Bordeaux) the wines produced are really quite good.

In Traverse City there are 2 different areas to consider when planning a winery hop - Old Mission peninsula or Leelanau Peninsula. While there are great wineries in both areas, Old Mission tends to be the best option if you're doing a tour because the wineries are closer together. The wineries on Old Mission are also very scenic. Standout wineries on Old Mission Peninsula
Chateau Chantal Winery and Inn
This picturesque winery and bed and breakfast is perfectly positioned for breathtaking views of both the east and west arms Grand Traverse Bay. The whole estate is absolutely gorgeous and may be one of the most scenic wineries in the area. They have outside seating on both sides of the main building providing an abundance of outside seating, encouraging you to enjoy the view with your wine. Speaking of, they have a solid selection of tasty wines and you can do a flight or get full glasses of wine during your visit. They also have snacks, local art and bottles of wine available for purchase.
2 Lads Winery
This modern winery stands out for a lot of reasons, potentially the least important of which is it's beautiful modern building. The building is perched on a hill and their tasting room has massive floor to ceiling windows which give guests a sweeping view of east Grand Traverse Bay. And to really capitalize on that view they have chairs and games outside so you can enjoy a glass of wine outdoors.
Their wines are delicious, some of the best in the area, and they have a food menu with many tasty options. This winery is a great one to add to the list if you love reds or want to make sure you've got interesting food options during your winery hop.
Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery
This winery has one of the best patios in the area and it overlooks lush vineyards and the east arm of the Grand Traverse Bay. Like many of the other wineries in the area, Brys sells both flights and glasses of wine and if you're on the patio you can get a fun wine flight tower. They also sell charcuterie boards and froze which is a nice option to add some variety to your tasting experience.
Bonobo Winery
Bonobo Winery is has delicious drink options that maybe rivaled by the breath taking views. Not only do they have great wines, they also offer yummy frozen cocktails that are a refreshing way to add some variety to your drink options. Their multi-level outdoor area not only provides delightful views, but also has outdoor games and swings for added entertainment. And as an added bonus, they are another locale that offers food.
